Be Nimble. Remain Optimistic!

Greetings,

I hope this month’s annual celebration of Independence Day finds you and your family safe, well and appreciative of the value of our great American society in spite of challenges we have in our past and present.

Carbon goes through great chemical change, pressure and time before becoming a diamond, I think that despite our challenges, our society is through pressure and time, making those changes toward a better and stronger outcome.

I find each day brings new insights about self-care and staying healthy, reengaging in public, and shaking off the COVID Coma that started in March.

Now here we are in July, and summer should be in full swing.

Depending on where you live, you may just be coming out of hibernation, or just going in. The good news is we have more reliable data now than we did in March. We are getting smarter about the spaces we share, the air we breathe, about washing our hands and sanitizing surfaces.

I find that the constant focus on the coronavirus impact has changed the way I live my life on a daily basis. Never before have I had to think about every action coming into or going out of, my home and office. It seems that the best strategy is to embrace “the pivot.” That may be a soft one for some people, or entail making big changes for others.

It could be wearing a mask, elbow bumping a friend I haven’t seen, or whether or not to use the FedEx pen to sign for a delivery. Where’s the hand sanitizer!

In this time of uncertainty, I find that I want to be happy… happy like a dog. I heard a friend say that with Covid-19 we have all become like dogs: we wander around the house looking for something to play with, we eat everything in sight, and we’re beyond excited when we get to go somewhere in the car.

With that in mind, I thought it would be a nice change of pace to focus on happiness.

  • “Be happy with what you have. Be excited about what you want.” -Alan Cohen
  • “Being unhappy is like having bad breath. It’s your obligation to fix it.” -Dennis Prager
  • “The world would be a nicer place if everyone had the ability to love as unconditionally as a dog.” -MK Clinton

As you celebrate Independence Day and move forward with your summer activities, I hope you enjoy this unprecedented opportunity to reengage with your family, recharge your batteries and find your focus. And remember to make choices that serve your inner peace and happiness.

Warm Regards,

David Busker
